COACH’S CHALLENGE – NEW CREATION (PART 2)

Sorry it has taken me so long to post a follow-up. Last Coach’s Challenge I shared the following text with you.

“So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regard Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin[for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (II Corinthians 5:16-21)

HOW POWERFUL IS THAT SCRIPTURE? You and me are New Creations. Our broken relationship with God has been reconciled (restored) through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf.

But it doesn’t stop there! We now must be committed to sharing this message of reconciliation with the world as though God were speaking through us. LET THAT SINK IN FOR A MOMENT. Should that really be taken lightly? We get to be an active part of God’s plan. We are His official representatives to the world. An effective representative (ambassador) must accurately and truthfully represent the interests of God without a hint of hypocrisy or of our own self interest.

After we are told that we are now Christ’s Ambassadors, the scripture goes on to teach us that it is our responsibility to implore others to be reconciled to God. And the word implore in the original text means with an ‘urgency of purpose.’

Remember, if you are a follower and disciple of Jesus, you are a Living Stone, a Light Bearer, More than a Conqueror, and an Ambassador of the King. Live out your true identity without compromise and be URGENT about sharing Jesus with others. Together we can impact the world and witness God’s power in changing lives. Until next time, continue to keep the faith.
