These are uncertain and troubling times that we are living in, some would even say dark times, and for many valid reasons. But here is some amazing news! In that darkness, there is a spiritual light. Jesus said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’ (John 8:12)

As followers of Jesus, willing to go Against the Current, it is important for us to know our identity and here is one aspect of who we are in Christ. We are his Light Bearers. It is our responsibility to love people so well that the light of Jesus that shines in us will one day shine in them.

‘You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.‘ (Matthew 5:14-16)

Students, let’s shine the light of Jesus in our families, throughout our communities and in our schools when they reopen. Together, ‘Let us love one another for love comes from God.‘ (I John 4:7)
