North Ridge Basketball Academy Privacy Policy
Effective September 11, 2026
1. Who We Are and What This Policy Covers
North Ridge Basketball Academy ("NRBA," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website https://www.nrbasketballacademy.com/ and provides basketball training, camps, lessons, performance programs, events, registration, and related services. NRBA is the data controller or business responsible for personal information covered by this policy unless we expressly identify another organization as the controller.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information through our website, program and event registration, attendee forms, electronic waivers and releases, contact forms, checkout and payment pages, email communications, social-media interactions, and related online or offline services that link to this policy.
This policy does not replace a separate notice that may appear at a particular form or checkout page. If a collection notice or consent request gives more specific information, that specific notice controls for the collection described there.
2. Personal Information We May Collect

3. How We Use Personal Information
- Provide, administer, and improve programs, camps, lessons, events, training, scholarship assistance, donations, and related services.
- Create and manage registrations, attendee records, tickets, waivers, releases, participant schedules, and program communications.
- Confirm that a parent, guardian, or other person is authorized to register a minor or sign a waiver when that confirmation is required.
- Use safety, medical, accommodation, and emergency-contact information for program administration, reasonable safety planning, emergency response, and communication with authorized contacts or emergency responders when appropriate.
- Process purchases, payments, refunds, donations, cancellations, taxes, accounting, chargebacks, fraud prevention, and customer-service requests.
- Send confirmations, receipts, reminders, schedule changes, safety notices, service messages, and other transactional communications.
- Respond to questions, requests, complaints, and support inquiries.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve the website, registration system, checkout, forms, and user experience.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, unauthorized access, and violations of our policies or the law.
- Send newsletters or promotional communications where permitted and where you have provided the consent required by law. You may unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
- Use photographs or videos for website, social-media, promotional, educational, or archival purposes only as permitted by the applicable release or consent provided by the participant or the participant's parent or guardian.
- Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, protect rights and safety, establish or defend legal claims, and enforce agreements.
4. Legal Grounds for Processing
For people in jurisdictions that require a legal basis, we may process personal information because it is necessary to perform a contract or provide requested services; because we have a legitimate interest in operating and securing the academy and communicating with customers; because processing is necessary to comply with law; because it protects someone's vital interests or safety; or because you have provided consent. We will request consent when consent is required, particularly for non-essential cookies, direct marketing, certain uses of sensitive information, and photo or video publicity.
You may withdraw consent at any time for future processing by using the available settings or contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal and may not stop processing that is necessary for a contract, safety, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or another lawful exception.
5. Children and Youth Participant Information
NRBA provides programs for young people. A parent, legal guardian, or other authorized adult should complete registration, provide a minor's information, and sign any waiver or release on the minor's behalf when required. We may collect information about a child from that adult for registration, program administration, safety, emergency response, payment, and related purposes.
The website is intended to be used by parents, guardians, adult participants, and other adults acting for a participant. We do not knowingly ask children under 13 to create independent accounts or submit personal information for marketing. If we learn that we collected personal information directly from a child under 13 in a manner that requires parental consent under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act or another law, we will take reasonable steps to obtain verifiable parental consent or delete the information, as required.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of a child under 16 for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use a child's medical, emergency, waiver, or registration information for advertising. Parents and guardians may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information submitted about their child, subject to identity and authority verification and legal or safety exceptions.
If you believe a child has submitted personal information directly to us without appropriate authorization, contact us using the details in Section 18.
6. Safety, Medical, Emergency, Waiver, and Photo or Video Information
Registration and waiver forms may request information needed to operate programs safely, including emergency-contact information, medical notes, allergies, injuries, limitations, accommodations, and other safety-related information that you choose to provide. We limit access to this information to people who need it for registration, supervision, safety, emergency response, customer support, legal, insurance, or administrative purposes. We may disclose it to emergency responders, health or safety personnel, authorized parents or guardians, coaches or staff who need it for a participant's safety, or service providers acting on our instructions when appropriate.
NRBA is not a healthcare provider, and the website is not intended to receive complete medical records. Provide only information reasonably necessary for the participant's safety and the program. This policy does not promise that every law governing health information applies to NRBA; the legal protections that apply depend on the information, the service, the parties involved, and applicable law.
If you provide or sign a photo or video release, we may use the permitted image, video, name, testimonial, or related content in the ways described in that release. If you do not provide consent, or later withdraw consent where withdrawal is available, we will take reasonable steps to stop new uses and avoid future publication of identifiable content, but withdrawal may not remove content already distributed, printed, reposted, or archived by third parties.
7. Ecommerce, Payments, and Financial Transaction Information
NRBA uses an ecommerce and registration workflow to process program registrations, tickets, donations, payments, and related transactions. The website may use WooCommerce and ticket or event-registration tools to create cart, order, attendee, payment-status, and customer-service records. The specific tools and payment processors enabled on the production site will be identified in the final vendor list.
Payments are processed by one or more third-party payment processors, such as PayPal and/or Apple Pay. When you pay, the processor may collect and process payment-card, bank, account, billing, authentication, device, and fraud-prevention information under its own privacy policy and terms. NRBA generally receives limited transaction information such as the payer's name and contact details, order and amount, payment status, transaction or authorization identifier, card brand or last four digits where supplied, refund or chargeback status, and other information needed to reconcile the transaction.
NRBA does not intentionally store full payment-card numbers or card security codes on its website servers when the processor's hosted checkout or secure payment fields are used. Payment data may nevertheless pass through or be temporarily handled by service providers as necessary to authorize, secure, reconcile, refund, or investigate a transaction. We do not ask you to send payment-card numbers or security codes by email, contact form, waiver, or social media.
We may use transaction information to complete payment, deliver registrations or tickets, send receipts and service messages, process refunds and cancellations, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, comply with tax and accounting obligations, and defend legal claims. Payment processors and ecommerce providers may use automated fraud detection or authorization decisions. A transaction may be declined or delayed by a processor's systems; NRBA does not control the processor's independent privacy practices or decision criteria.
Payment security is a shared responsibility. NRBA uses reasonable safeguards and selects payment providers intended to protect payment information, but no transmission or storage system can be guaranteed secure. The payment processor's privacy policy and security practices apply to information it collects directly.
8. When We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients, for the purposes described in this policy and only as reasonably necessary:
- Service providers and contractors that host, maintain, secure, operate, or support the website, registration, ticketing, electronic-signature, ecommerce, payment, email, analytics, cookie-consent, customer-support, or communications systems.
- Coaches, staff, administrators, event personnel, and safety personnel who need information to provide services, supervise participants, communicate with families, or respond to an emergency.
- Payment processors, banks, card networks, fraud-prevention providers, tax and accounting providers, and dispute or chargeback services.
- Parents, guardians, authorized representatives, emergency contacts, or participants when disclosure is needed to administer a registration, program, waiver, or safety matter.
- Social-media, video, and content platforms when you interact with them or when a photo, video, testimonial, or other content is published with the applicable permission.
- Professional advisers, insurers, auditors, lawyers, and regulators where appropriate.
- Government, law-enforcement, courts, or other parties when required or permitted by law, legal process, or an emergency involving safety.
- A purchaser, successor, or other party involved in a merger, reorganization, financing, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal requirements.
We do not authorize service providers to use NRBA's child, waiver, medical, emergency, or registration information for their own unrelated marketing. We may use aggregated or de-identified information that no longer reasonably identifies a person for analytics, planning, reporting, or service improvement, where permitted by law.
9. Cookies, Analytics, Embedded Content, and Similar Technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, web beacons, log files, and similar technologies. These technologies may remember preferences, keep a cart or registration session active, support security, understand site usage, measure communications, and deliver or evaluate advertising where enabled.
| Technology type | Why it may be used | Choice |
| Strictly necessary | Security, page delivery, consent preferences, cart, checkout, login or registration session, and basic site operation. | Generally cannot be disabled without affecting core functions. |
| Functional or preference | Remember choices such as language, layout, or form preferences. | May be controlled through the cookie settings tool or browser. |
| Analytics or performance | Measure visits, page performance, navigation, errors, and aggregate use of the website. | May require consent depending on location and configuration. |
| Advertising or social | Measure campaigns, support remarketing, personalize advertising, or enable social content and sharing. | May require consent and an opt-out under applicable law. |
Third-party content, including social-media feeds, videos, payment buttons, maps, or other embedded content, may cause the third party to collect information when the content loads or when you interact with it. Those third parties' privacy policies apply to their processing. Before publication, list the actual analytics, advertising, social, and embedded-content providers and provide a functioning cookie preference mechanism.
You can also manage cookies through your browser. Browser controls may not replace a legally required consent or opt-out mechanism. Where required, NRBA will honor recognized opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control for the uses to which the signal applies.
10. Email, Text Messages, and Marketing Choices
We may send transactional communications about registrations, payments, waivers, schedules, programs, safety, and customer service. These messages are not necessarily marketing and may continue when needed to provide a service or comply with law.
If you opt in to newsletters or promotional messages, we may send information about programs, camps, events, updates, fundraising, or related opportunities. You may unsubscribe by using the link in an email or contacting us. If NRBA sends text messages, the applicable sign-up flow will state what you are agreeing to and provide required STOP, HELP, and other opt-out instructions. Message and data rates may apply. We do not condition a purchase or program registration on optional marketing consent.
11. Third-Party Websites and Services
The website may link to or integrate third-party websites and services, including payment providers, social-media platforms, video platforms, email tools, electronic-signature services, and other providers. We are not responsible for the privacy, security, content, or availability of a third party's service. Review the third party's privacy policy before submitting information. A third party's processing may occur outside the United States and may be governed by its own terms.
12. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing services, administering registrations and waivers, maintaining safety records, processing payments, meeting tax and accounting obligations, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, preventing fraud, complying with legal obligations, and establishing or defending claims.
Retention varies by record type. Registration, attendee, waiver, photo/video consent, order, payment, tax, accounting, customer-service, security, and backup records may have different retention periods. NRBA should adopt and follow a written retention schedule. When information is no longer needed, we will delete it, securely dispose of it, or de-identify it where reasonably practicable, subject to backups, legal holds, legal requirements, and other lawful exceptions.
We may keep a minimal suppression record when needed to remember that a person opted out of marketing or certain processing. This record is not used to send marketing and is retained only as necessary to honor the request and demonstrate compliance.
13. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and the risks involved. These may include access controls, authentication, staff procedures, secure connections, vendor due diligence, backups, monitoring, and measures designed to limit access to child, health, emergency, waiver, and payment-related information.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for using a secure device and protecting passwords or account credentials. If we identify a security incident involving personal information, we will investigate and provide notices or take other actions required by applicable law.
14. United States State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and whether a state privacy law applies to NRBA, you may have rights to know or access personal information, correct inaccurate information, delete information, obtain a portable copy, opt out of targeted advertising or certain disclosures, opt out of sale, limit certain uses of sensitive information, and appeal a denied request. Some states also provide rights relating to profiling, consent for sensitive information, or authorized agents.
NRBA does not intentionally sell personal information for money. However, disclosures to analytics, social-media, or advertising providers may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under some state laws even when no money is exchanged. If an applicable law treats our practices as a sale or sharing, we will provide the required opt-out mechanism. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of children under 16 for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To submit a request, contact us using Section 18. We may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request. If you are requesting information about a child, we may request proof that you are the parent, legal guardian, or authorized representative. We will respond within the time required by the applicable law. You may appeal a denial where the applicable law provides an appeal right. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right, although a different price, service, or feature may be permitted when reasonably related to the value of information and allowed by law.
15. California Privacy Notice
This section applies to California residents to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, applies to NRBA. We may ask for information necessary to verify the request and will use information supplied for verification only as permitted by law. If we deny a request, include "California Appeal" in the subject line and explain why you believe the decision should be reconsidered.
California residents may also contact the California Privacy Protection Agency or the California Attorney General if they have concerns about a business's privacy practices. This does not limit any right to contact a regulator or bring a claim that cannot lawfully be waived.
16. Canadian Privacy Rights
If you are in Canada, we handle personal information in accordance with applicable federal and provincial privacy laws, which may include the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act, British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act, Quebec's privacy legislation, and other applicable laws. We identify purposes at or before collection, seek meaningful consent where required, limit collection and use to reasonable purposes, use safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, and provide access and correction processes subject to legal exceptions.
NRBA is based in the United States. Personal information submitted to us may be transferred to, stored in, or processed by service providers in the United States or other countries. Information transferred outside Canada may be subject to the laws of the country where it is processed and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement, or national-security authorities in that country. We use contractual, organizational, or other safeguards required or appropriate for the transfer and remain responsible for personal information transferred to service providers for processing, as required by applicable law.
Canadian residents may request access to their personal information, ask that inaccurate information be corrected, ask questions about our practices, withdraw consent where withdrawal is available, or make a complaint. Contact the privacy officer at [privacy email and mailing address]. If we cannot resolve a complaint, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the applicable provincial privacy regulator, including the Alberta, British Columbia, or Quebec regulator where relevant.
17. European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
If the General Data Protection Regulation, UK GDPR, Swiss data-protection law, or another comparable law applies to our processing, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of your personal data; withdraw consent; object to direct marketing; and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. You may also have rights concerning automated decision-making and profiling.
We do not knowingly make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you. Payment or fraud-prevention providers may use automated tools to authorize transactions or detect fraud, and you may contact the relevant provider or NRBA if you need information about a transaction decision.
For requests under these laws, contact coachmiller@nrbasketballacademy.com. We may request information to verify identity and will respond within the period required by applicable law. Where international transfers require additional safeguards, we will use a legally recognized transfer mechanism or another lawful basis.
